Adobe, Quark & Universal Binaries

You know… Quark may just be able to pull their bacon out of the fire yet.

An Adobe engineer took time to talk wiht AppleInsider about the difficulties of reving for the Intel Macs. Rightfully so. It’s a hard frickin thing to do for a large app suite like that and I’m sure Adobe only had a minor jump on the rest of us developers. Certainly not more than months.

So, When Quark took a couple of years to get an OSX ready version of their app… Adobe had a beautiful opportunity to come out with their “Quark killer”: Adobe InDesign.

I personally know 14 designers who have switched to InDesign (top of mind, probably more if I asked all the folks I know). And, it’s because Quark is as slow as molasses in January.

So, here we are again on a level playing field. What will Quark do? Make hay? Or be made a fool again? (I’m betting they get trampled personally. Adobe’s got to be smelling blood in the water and will circle for the kill.)
