Always 9:42 am iPhone Time
YouTube announcements for iPhone and AppleTV. Okay. That’s kinda nice. I like the squirrel catapult on YouTube.
But, have you noticed in ALL of the iPhone demos online now it’s 9:42 in Every. Single. Video. It’s also always Sunday June 3.
The headlines from the New York Times in the demo’s are from October 3, 2006. Interesting that it’s June 3 and the headline reads from an October 3 front page. (I’ve spent too much time nitpicking my own screen recorded demos for inconsistencies to let Apple, the master of all demos, get away with it)

Gotta pick something on the clock right? 🙂

9:42 is the time the iPhone was announced at macworld, check the logs.

Martin. It’s simply interesting Apple keeps the consistency across lots of bits of media (like a time on the clock). Even when several minutes pass… and it’s still 9:42. However, because of that consistency when I found an inconsistency… it just called to me to out it.
I happen to think you’re right. Probably noone cares.

Well My iphone is stuck on 9:42, how do I get my real time back on???
January 17, 2008 at 6:23 am
9:42
The digit sum is 9+4+2 = 15 = 1+5 = 6
It is 9.7 hours from midnight = 582 minutes. Digit sum is 5+8+2 = 15 = 1+5 = 6
The hour hand has covered 291 degrees at 9:42. 69 degrees left, 6+9 = 15 = 1+5 = 6
So, of course, and as many other things, the devil is behind this.
(Also
There is 14,3 hours left of the day = 858 minutes = 51480 seconds
From midnight to 9:42, a clock will strike 55 times
It is 34920 seconds from midnight
It represents 40.4 % of 24 hours, 80.8 % of 12 hours.)

My iphone is stuck on 9:42 also — I can’t find any information about my problem anywhere on the net… This post is the first place I’ve seen anyone else complain about the same issue.
My clock has been fixed at 9:42 for about 3 days now! It’s weird, my actual iphone internal clock works and displays the correct time from the unlock screen, but for some reason, the clock on the status bar is fixed on 9:42 AM. It is as if some hack is masking the actual clock on the status bar.
Any ideas???

If your time is stuck on 9:42, it’s because of the app extended preferences. If you still have it installed, go into your settings and turn off the fake time. If you’re like me, and had already tried to uninstall extended preferences, and it didn’t fix the time, then go into your iPhone’s directory via SSH, navigate to /private/var/root/Library/Preferences and delete the file com.apple.springboard.plist.
