Is There A Mac OSX Quick Key For…

Fast Switching Users? Michelle has her place on the home Mac. Ian has his place. I have a very dusty corner on that machine and occasionally we have to disconnect and hide the mouse from the other munchkins in the house (leaving only a keyboard). So, is there a quick key combo to switch users? I don’t want to log the active user out… Just switch. Thanks in advance!

[EDIT: Here’s how it’s done…]

  • Go to System Preferences.
  • Select Keyboard & Mouse
  • Select the Keyboard Shortcuts tab
  • Expand the Keyboard Shortcuts and check the adjacent box (be sure it’s checked, not empty)
  • Set your “Move focus to status menus in the menu bar” key command
  • (Click in the Finder and test it out)

Have you seen this http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/fastuserswitching/ I don’t think you have to log out to do it, could be wrong though

@Mr. H – Yeah. Actually, that’s the process we use now. I’m looking for a keyboard command that will substitute for the mousing action. Even a keyboard shortcut back to the login window would be fine…
