XServe RAID Flies The Coop

Bummer. Looks like Apple wasn’t making their typical 19 million percent markup on the XServe RAID and so… killed it.

I have two of these babies racked and in production. They’re monster good machines, nicely integrated with OSX Server and I’m saddened by their passing. Just like the passing of the original iSight… I’m supposing there will be a healthy aftermarket for these units.

Quite sad, but the Promise RAID units are quite nice and have good price performance. Aftermarket: got to agree. We’ll be stockpiling key parts to keep our XServe RAID healthy and happy for awhile to come.
