LoJack Alternatives?

June 23, 2008

Wondering what alternatives are out there for Mac laptop security in addition to LoJack, DynDNS and the staid but true Kensington laptop security cable.

I’ve heard there are some accessories that can be installed in the computer to effectively pin-point its location for recovery purposes. Wonder if these are PCMCIA or if they fit inside the laptop and work their magic? Also, I’d be interested in ways to script a wiping of the entire home directory in the event the machine fell into the wrong hands.

I’m sure the audience won’t disappoint. Supply links for extra credit please 🙂

This thing is thin! Which is really cool. It’s multi-gesture capable. Also, very cool. The lack of optical drive unnerves me. Only in the way the lack of a floppy-drive unnerved me so many moons ago. Hey, it’s time to adjust and get on with the show I suppose.

Runs a not-yet-ready for the world version of the Mac OS X Leopard. 9B2324

So, I suppose Remote Disk is among the first of many solutions we’ll see come about. It’s not so elegant. But, it’s early and no one really has had a chance to say it’s terrific or sucks. Proof will be in the hands of the early adopters and the folks who swarm to the Apple Stores to smudge the screens and put it through the paces.

MacBook Air is 0.16″ to 0.76″. The thickest part of the MacBook Air is thinner than the thinnest part of the Sony. It fits inside a envelope (MacRumorsLive)

What do you give up to achieve that goal? The thick stuff. Just make it thinner. 😉

4) Something in the air – MacBook Air. (Here we go! Red Five, I’m going in!) World’s thinnest notebook. What’s “thin”?
